What can I say about
this doe? We don't really have any offspring
out of her but she is here because of what she gave to a little boy
that grew up with her. She was Kevin's baby, purchased as his first
4-H doe and the love of his life. She followed him everywhere, always
preferring
to be with him if he was anywhere near. They seemed to communicate
in their own language.Lucky was not a
permanent champion. She HES scored 89 and won lots
of classes but never earned that elusive CH. She gave us lots of
daughters and sons...many who have done extremely well in
other herds and she gave Kevin his first CH doe in her daughter, Leah.
Most of all what she gave was to teach Kevin how to love something
unconditionally. Even as a "cool" teenager, he never was too
busy to spend time with her.
We lost Lucky at 9 years of age in a tragic kidding
that resulted in
a torn uterus. She was a beautiful doe that was loved her entire life.
Thank you, Joan and Jim, for sharing her with all of us.
