What an exciting addition to our herd!!! From the
minute we saw Wicked after she was appraised in 2018, we knew that we
wanted a son for our herd. The fact that she was later named National
Champion just firmed up our decision.
This little guy is just stunning....he's tall, wide and level
showing great dairy strength and body capacity. A late kid, Hatter is
extremely big for his age so we are hoping too be able to use him
on some select late bred does this fall. His dam, Wicked, is just
a stunning doe..tall, dairy and powerful with a stunning capacious
udder. The Hoku daughters have been extremely uniform and correct with
lovely, correct mammaries...what a great combination!
Hatter is in his awkward yearling phase this summer....all long legs
and lacking depth of body but he is already showing so much potential.
We can't wait to see him mature over the next year or so. Let's be
honest, Hatter was a really ugly yearling but what a difference a year
can make. He finally grew into his long body and his long legs and put
on some much-needed weight. We were so thrilled when he appraised 90 VEE
as a just turned 2 year old!
The Hatter daughters are not pretty newborns...they are long and leggy
and awkward but time cures all! All five of our 2021 Hatter daughters
are long, level and excel in general appearance and dairy
strength....all stand on extremely correct feet and legs. The older they
get the more body capacity they are developing and we are so in love
with what he is producing.
Every Hatter daughter so far has excelled in
mammary. He seems to cross best with big powerful does that stand on
strong feet and legs but he will improve virtually any mammary!
Following a severe hip injury this summer,
Hatter will be taking a year off giving him time to heal and giving us further
time to evaluate his current
milking daughters and his first fresheners due next spring. |
