Spirit was a last minute
decision just before we left to pick up our reserved kids from Shady
Lawn in 2024 . I had reserved an experimental kid who had not been born yet and
April offered us this little doll.
We really love this little doe
and feel she has a great deal to offer in the future. She is very level
and correct and so smooth throughout. She stands on very correct feet
and legs. While we showed Spirit this year, she had a huge disadvantage.
She seems to be highly allergic to mosquitos and the fairgrounds were
rampant with them when we arrived. By show day, despite mosquito and fly
spray, she was pretty bit up and did not show to her best.
Spirit's dam, Effervescence, finished her championship just weeks after
we picked up Spirit. She is a powerhouse of a doe with tremendous body
capacity and depth of rib. She also has a stunning mammary. We
look forward to the future of this lovely kid.
Spirit has been one of my
favorite dry yearlings all year but she's also a very easy keeper. When
James showed her the judges all criticized her for being too
"fluffy"....oh well, I'm sure she'll milk it off when she freshens.
Spirit still has all of the amazing type that I like to see in a dry
yearling.....level topline, smoothly blending shoulders, tremendous
width of chest and escutcheon and great feet and legs. We look forward
to having her in milk in the spring.
Spirit will be bred to Quake for February kids. |
